Do you know the difference between a „Kapuziner“, an „Einspänner“or a „Maria Theresia“? We will find them and taste them. The Ottoman besiegers of Vienna fled the Christian armies head over heels. The little green beans remained by the sack. An Armenian spy was allowed to open the first café.

The coffeehouse – the Viennese common living room
Life in Vienna can soon no longer be imagined without the boiling of coffee and the gathering in the café, the “being alone, without being alone” (Alfred Polgar).

Stefan Zweig, Karl Kraus, Sigmund Freud, drivers and menials – they all came together. Some, like Beethoven, even had their mail be delivered to the café.

The 21st century moves in, but the coffee house remains the coffee house
People say that I am marvellous storyteller. I will take you to long-established cafés, in which writers, people from the movie business, and artists of all professions come together. A barista buying his beans directly in Uganda and Brazil, fascinating Art Nouveau objects and one or another extraordinary sight lie on the way.

The beguiling scent of coffee, different nuances of flavour and modern, artful milk-foam-painting will be our companions.

Being, for many years, an attentive coffee taster in all of Europe and overseas, I will introduce you to the magic of coffee boiling in an affectionately gathered collection (today the coffee museum) by means of centuries-old roasters, giant “café laboratories” and today’s E61.

Duratio about 2 ½ Stunden

Costs € 48,- per person

Including entrance to the collection, milk-foam-painting, one coffee per person in the café.
